4 Ways to Say Thank You to Your Money
I was taught at a very early age to mind my manners; please and thank you and sorry at all of the right moments were an absolute must. And although leading with manners and kindness is how I move through life, it was only through mindset work that I realized I had never said thank you to one of the most important “things” in my life; money. Whether you want to earn more money or have an abundance of it, giving gratitude is something that should definitely be included in your everyday life. Here are 4 ways you too can start to say “thank you” to your money:
Open Your Bank Account & Express Thanks
Unless you’re like Danijela and haven’t missed a single money date, chances are you only check your bank account when something goes in, or something is due to come out of it. Instead of living in this lack mindset, create a daily or weekly routine of opening up your bank account and instead of the amount causing you stress, shame or discomfort, look at the balance and express thanks, no matter what the amount.
I know this isn’t an easy thing to do, especially if you wish that number looking back at you was higher, but by expressing gratitude to that number, it changes your connection to money. When you make that shift in connection, your energy towards money changes. When your energy towards money changes, you begin to attract more abundance to you.
Express Thanks to you Debts
No, I did not bump my head and lose all common sense. I am serious when I say that you should express thanks to your debts. There are certain debts that have allowed you to get to the place you are, whether it’s a mortgage or a student debt, those are the debts you should say thank you to. One of the easiest ways to express gratitude towards your debt is to write a thank you letter to it. And if you don’t know how to, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

Now, I do have to say that expressing thanks to your debt doesn’t apply to the debt that got you those gorgeous suede boots that you just had to have, or the shopping spree you went on because you wanted to fit in on that girl’s trip. This type of debt doesn’t benefit you in any way, and it definitely shouldn’t be included on that gratitude list.
Each Time you Pay a Bill, Express Thanks
Bills are a reminder of what you are providing for yourself and your family and should not be seen as a monthly obligation. Each time you pay a hydro bill or internet bill, express thanks that you are able to house yourself and your family, keep them warm in the winter/cool in the summer and that you are able to provide them with the technological requirements that are needed for working or studying from home. When you change your mindset about your bills and having to pay them, all of a sudden they become less of an obligation.
Show Gratitude Each Time Money Comes In or Leaves
Create a gratitude gesture each time money comes into or leaves your hands. It could be as simple as taking an intentional moment of pause and saying a personalized thank you statement to the Universe when putting money into your wallet or taking money out to pay for something (expected or unexpected). Or your gesture of gratitude could be to make a list of money that poured into your life with ease or how you were easily able to pay for something. These gestures don’t have to be massive and time consuming. What you are creating is a habit or ritual that will help you connect differently to money.
Saying thank you in whatever capacity might feel weird at first but don’t let that stop you from making it a part of your life.
Being grateful for the money you have means you take better care of it, spend it with intention and manage it better. Giving thanks will help change your perspective from a place of “not having enough” to “I have more than enough”.
