Investing in You - A Rogers TV Roundtable Discussion

“Canadians are looking for immediate solutions; and they’re searching online for answers.”

Websites and social media are a great resource when looking for help, however, they’re not always the best source to rely on when making personal money decisions especially around investing and financial planning.

A recent survey concluded that there is a very active “culture of now” mentality amongst Canadians that is highly driven by social media and it is a result of people wanting fast results and instant gratification. The exact opposite of what a financial plan and proper investing should provide.

THIS PACK MENTALITY LEADS TO BOTH MISINFORMATION AND AN OVERWHELM OF INFORMATION THAT CREATES EVEN MORE FINANCIAL CONFUSION.

I had the pleasure of chairing a recent Rogers TV Roundtable where the main focus was investing in yourself with the proper guidance and information.  And as guests Peter Maranger and Josée Brisson, financial advisors with Co-Operators and business columnist Jonathan Chevreau pointed out, the best solution to avoid getting caught up in the latest trends or making decisions based on the fear of missing out, is to seek out a good financial advisor who understands your current and future financial needs.

In this Roundtable we also discussed how to best leverage  RRSP’s, TFSA’s, the reality of home ownership and much more.
