Worthy Women Series: Jamelia Gregory
That’s not what Spiritual Teacher, Jamelia Gregory, thought she would ever be talking about. Especially because growing up, she saw money as something that was difficult to achieve; in her family, money caused problems and fights. When you grow up with that narrative all around you, how can you possibly get to a point where your relationship with money is one of expectancy, ease, comfort and abundance?
But that is exactly the shift in mindset, personal and financial growth that Jamelia went through. As she told me during the Worthy Women IG Live Series, it wasn’t always an easy journey for her.
She, like most women, stayed far too long in a relationship that was emotionally toxic but made up for it in financial stability. If she left, how would she possibly provide for her son and herself in a manner that they were currently accustomed to?
But the ultimate “I am worth it” moment forced her to make a choice.
“I wasn’t myself anymore, I was so unhappy. Everybody has a choice and this is a choice I have to make for myself.”
That choice led her to start her journey with me. We worked through her blocks, the ones she had been carrying for over 40 years and the blocks that were going to come up at the thought of leaving her current situation. She was worried about going into debt, credit card bills, being unhappy at a 9-5 job and the ever familiar dialogue of her childhood that “I always have to fight for this money.”
