My Latest Budgeting Hack

When I first started budgeting…

… I was so horrible at it! Every month I would always go over in the same two categories: eating out and shopping. At least I was consistent, right?!

I quickly realized that setting the budget is one part and tracking my actual spending against the budget is another. I preferred dodging that duty until the end of the month but by that time the damage was already done - those brand-new heels were already in the closet staring at me.

I had to trick my mind into seeing money management as fun and easy, which is why I created my own weekly Money Dates. It’s that sacred time to connect with my money, see where it’s going, update my budget and make real time changes to my money plan.

Even though I’ve been budgeting for years, I’m always looking for budgeting hacks because trust me - that eating out and shopping category still can get out of control at times.

My latest budgeting hack is using my PC Money Account from PC Financial. It’s an everyday account that rewards you with 10 PC Optimum points for every dollar you spend anywhere you spend it! Earn PC Optimum points on all purchases and turn them into free groceries, beauty products and other essentials.

So now I can quickly build reward points, redeem them for free groceries and put the extra money left in the grocery budget towards our savings goals (or treat myself...ssshhhh!).

That’s what I call budget money moves.
